President Obama Discusses The First Influential Gay Person In His Life

From:Queerty
”I’m not sure who the first openly gay person I met was, but Dr. Lawrence Goldyn, one of my college professors, is a man who stands out to me. I took his class freshman year at Occidental. I was probably 18 years old — Lawrence was one of the younger professors — and we became good friends. He went out of his way to advise lesbian, gay, and transgender students at Occidental, and keep in mind, this was 1978. That took a lot of courage, a lot of confidence in who you are and what you stand for. I got to recognize Lawrence last year at our Pride Month reception at the White House, and thank him for influencing the way I think about so many of these issues.”President Obama in an interview with Out magazine, in which he’s named “Ally of the Year”

Passion Pit Frontman Michael Angelakos Comes Out As Gay

From: Queerty
Appearing on author Bret Easton Ellis’ podcast Monday, Passion Pit front man Michael Angelakos spoke candidly about a number of difficult topics, from being diagnosed bipolar to struggling with authentic identity in the music industry. He also discussed his marriage and subsequent divorce last year, telling Ellis that he is, in fact, gay.
“It’s always been about putting it off in my head — not consciously,” the 28-year-old told Ellis. “I just wanted so badly to be straight, because I love her so much. I think that was one of the most painful things when we decided to separate.”
“Specifically with my sexuality, it was just, unlike bipolar, ‘Don’t get help. Don’t talk to anyone,’” he also said. “I lived in such a straight group of people. Not like anyone wasn’t going to be understanding, it was not the time…This was dudes in bands talking about girls. It was just so easy at the time to talk about girls. I just kept writing about them. It was like the music was then again informing … I was going through so many difficult issues with girls in general that when I started dating my wife she just quieted them so much so. She was such a good friend. It became kind of a non-issue.”
His discussion of sexuality begins around the 49-minute mark:

The Weekly ShoutOUT™

This week we give a ShoutOUT™ to … Greg Berlanti
From: NewNowNext
Closing out our week with Greg, on a personal level, he’s had a high-profile, on-again, off again relationship with our soccer star Robbie Rogers (is it back on again?), and professionally, he’s been a godsend to superhero fans, helping bring Arrow, Flash, and the upcoming Supergirl and Legends Of Tomorrow to the small screen.

Nick Jonas Talks About Experimenting Sexually With Men

From: Towleroad
We’ve previously told you about Nick Jonas’s penchant for serving up plenty of material to tantalize his gay fans, whether that’s being chained up at G-A-Y nightclub in London, playing a gay MMA fighter on Kingdom, a gay frat bro on Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens, or doing his best Marky Mark. Now, Jonas is upping the ante.

Speaking with the Daily Star Online at the Radio One Teen Awards in the UK,  Jonas was asked point blank if he has experimented sexually with other men. Jonas’s response could best be described as cagey: “I can’t say if I have or haven’t, but if you watch [Kingdom] you’ll see more of that.”

For fans wondering if his gay scenes on Kingdom get any steamier, Jonas would only say, “If you keep watching the series you’ll see more of that.”

And as for the “haters”, Jonas remains unfazed: “In every situation when there’s an opportunity to be negative some people find the need to be.”

Jonas added that he is happy to be playing gay characters: “I love the roles that I’m playing and I’m thrilled to be playing them.”

He also responded to a question about his visible “manhood” seen in paparazzi snaps taken after leaving the gym, saying, “I think there was a single picture that did that. I think it was enhanced anyway afterwards. Maybe, I don’t know.”

Let the gay-baiting continue.

May the Foreskin Be With You ... or Not

From; kenneth in the (212)
Listen: I'm happy I'm circumcised. (I'm a white boy from the Midwest, it's not like I had any other choice.) And I'm happy people who are uncircumcised are happy to not be. And I'm happy parents are giving it more consideration, as opposed to doctors just doing it without asking. But this whole foreskin restoration cult is just ... wrong. It doesn't ever make you uncut -- it makes you a freak who can't accept life and move on. Read the Village Voice's October piece on the subject HERE.

Jack Pierson: Tomorrow’s Man 3

From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things

'I think there's some idea that power is maintained by concealment. I always think the naked person is the most powerful in any situation.'

I fell in love with Jack Pierson's previous Tomorrow's Man compilations, (the second, still available on Amazon) so was beyond thrilled to see the third volume introduced at The New York Book fair this past September. Tomorrow's Man 3, is edited and designed by Jack Pierson and Roger Bywater features four artists on four different covers blends design, story and art with the beauty of the male form.

Described as a scrapbook study of masculinity, the third edition features not only Jack's imagery, but the work of Peter Fend, Richard Tinker and Veralyn Behenna. One of the covers also features one of my favorite models, and one of the hottest models working today, Adam Gumula. Adam has a powerful surface sexuality and has become known for working with artists and with project that are not only artistic, but boundary pushing and thought provoking. If you weren’t alive in the ’80s, you can be forgiven for not knowing how many women (and men) got weak in the knees for Tom’s killer mustache/short-shorts combo.

It was kind of a genderf*ck, but America couldn’t get enough of it.
