Child’s Play

The sequels were so campy (which is not a bad thing), that it’s easy to forget that the original Child’s Play was actually a straightforward serious horror film, with a fine performance from the always dependable (and underrated) Catherine Hicks as a single mother who discovers that the Good Guy Doll she .. well, you know the story. Gay screenwriter Don Mancini is about to unleash Curse of Chucky on us, so now is as good a time as any to pay tribute to the … gulp … 25TH ANNIVERSARY? God, we’re old.

Karter Country
Levi Karter

One of the most famous of porn's CockyBoys, Karter is instantly recognizable—cute, scruffy, abs of steel.

As one of the most popular bottoms in the biz, maybe in porn history, Karter may be the most identifiable performer in the CockyBoys stable—and that's saying a lot, with names like Tayte Hanson, Liam Riley and Jake Bass at their disposal.

A 2015 HuffingtonPost profile gave Karter a forum to say the following:

Within the same piece, CockyBoys founder Jake Jaxson said of Karter:

He's not rude. He does not get hung up on wanting to be 'right' and works hard to show mutual respect in both work and play. But what I love the most about Levi is his curiosity and desire to learn. And like all our CockyBoys, he's working hard to create possibilities beyond the perceived limitations of adult entertainment.

We'll see if he crosses over or simply becomes a porn icon.

Indiana Priest Kicks LGBT Catholic Group Out Of Church After 12 Years

The pastor reportedly urged the group to repent for "struggling with same-sex attractions."
From: NewNowNext
An LGBT Catholic group has been forced to find a new venue for their monthly meetings after the new pastor of St. Mary parish in Evansville, Indiana, where the group has met for the last 12 years, unceremoniously kicked them out because they are “not operating in compliance with the Roman Catholic Church rules.”

Father Gordon Mann told the members of Rainbow Catholics in Christ (RCC) to leave in February, but the group only recently revealed his decision publicly, Church Militant reports.

According to the Evansville Courier & Press, RCC meets monthly to pray and discuss social topics like “LGBTQ advocacy, fairness in employment and housing, and human sexuality and spirituality.”

Father Mann, who took over the church in January, reportedly told the group they could continue meeting at St. Mary if they adhered to the rules of Courage/EnCourage, a Catholic outreach group that organizes meetings for people “struggling with same-sex attractions.”

RCC members claim turning their group into a Courage group would inflict “spiritual and psychological harm” on members, as it teaches that same-sex attraction is unnatural, and that people with same-sex attractions should remain chaste and frequently attend confession.

Writing about her experience in an op-ed for the Courier & Press, former St. Mary parishioner Kirstin Ethridge said she was leaving the church as it is no longer “a safe space for all people, including LGBT+ Catholics”:

As soon as I was old enough, I participated in many ministries, from greeting people at the church doors to teaching First Communion classes, because I wished to contribute to this wonderful mission of God’s love. Due to the church’s change of heart, I have had to resign from my multiple ministry positions. As I said in my resignation letter, “I cannot in good conscience continue to teach at a parish which excludes. Even if I do not explicitly teach exclusion, by remaining a First Communion teacher, I would be complicit in such exclusion.”

Since leaving St. Mary, the RCC had found a temporary home at a local library before moving permanently to St. Lucas United Church of Christ in Evansville.

Father Mann refused to comment on the matter, but the diocese of Evansville affirmed that “all are welcome” at any church in a public statement.

“The Church’s respect for the dignity of every person as created in the image of God has remained consistent throughout time,” he said. “Outreach to people across society — including the LGBT community here in the Tri-State and across the world — continues to be founded in that respect for the sacredness of every person. All are welcome.”

In Surprise Decision, UK Government Rejects Plans To Add PrEP To National Health Service

"Today’s decision by NHS England... is shameful," said Jackie Morton, director of the Terrence Higgins Trust.
From: NewNowNext
This week activists and medical experts were stunned to hear the British government has decided to scratch plans to put PrEP on the National Health Service.

It has, instead, approved £2 million for “early-implementer tests” that would provide pre-exposure prophylaxis to 500 men at high risk of HIV infection.

In a statement, NHS England said getting the drug to at-risk communities was not its responsibility, though it was “committed to working with local authorities, Public Health England, the Department of Health and other stakeholders” on the issue.

Activists complain the £2 million allotment is arbitrary,” especially when PrEP has already proven effective—both in the UK and abroad.

“NHS England led us to believe for the last two years that they would be willing to commission and fund PrEP as long as it met the appropriate criteria of cost effectiveness,” said Yusef Azad of the National AIDS Trust. He blasted today’s decision as “another example of our health system refusing to fund prevention effectively” and complained that it’s still not clear who’s responsibility it is to get PrEP green lighted.

“Is it the Department of Health, local authorities, the NHS or Public Health England? We need answers, we need access, and we demand both.”

“By denying full availability of PrEP we are failing those who are at risk of HIV,” said Jackie Morton, CEO of the Terrence Higgins Trust, a major AIDS organization in the UK.

“Today’s decision by NHS England to depart with due process, and, instead, offer a tokenistic nod to what has the potential to revolutionize HIV prevention in the UK, is shameful.”

More than 2,500 men who have sex with men are diagnosed with HIV each year in the UK, a figure that has remained constant over the past 10 years.
