Meet Hillary's Hot Nephew, Tyler Clinton

From: kenneth in the (212)
If you're anything like me, you must have noticed the handsome young man who joined Hillary Clinton & Co. on-stage after her acceptance speech last night in Philly. My first guess was that he was one of Tim Kaine's brood. But it turns out he refers to the next president of the United States as "Aunt Hillary" -- he's Roger Clinton's son! (Must be the mom.) Tyler, who recently graduated from Loyola Marymount University, now runs the Let's Grow Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on revitalizing and preserving natural resources in an effort to stop global warming and deliver vital resources to developing/underprivileged regions, in addition to being a full-time heartbreaker.
Uncle Bill gave the commencement address when Tyler graduated from college.

Can't tell if he's gay or millennial. He posts pictures of Beyonce and of himself with his arm around cute boys -- and posed for these photos! -- but does that mean anything anymore?

Ellen DeGeneres Has Had Enough Of This Interviewer’s “Horrible Game”

When you come to interview Ellen, come prepared!
From: NewNowNext
This week Ellen DeGeneres sat down with CBBC host Lindsey Russell for an interview to promote Finding Dory, and was so completely over the game Russell had planned that she couldn’t help but call it out.

Russell explained the game was a memory game based on Dory’s chronic short-term memory, and that for every question she asked, Ellen must give the answer to the previously asked question.

The premise of the game is so nonsensical that Ellen doesn’t make it one question in before commenting on the absurdity of it all.

“This is a horrible game, who came up with this?” she jokes. “Look, you’re running out of time.”

After suggesting they should move on and learning there’s nothing else planned, Ellen adds: “That’s all you have? Sorry your game was a bust.”

Check it out below. Finding Dory is now in theaters.

Elizabeth Banks Owns Donald Trump At The DNC

"I don't usually say this about Donald Trump, but that was over the top."
From: NewNowNext

To the familiar strains of Queen’s “We Are The Champions,” actress/director and Hillary Clinton supporter Elizabeth Banks made her entrance Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention, lurching back and forth and bathed in gaudy silhouette and tacky fog.

It was a horrifying reminder of what happened in Cleveland last week, and caused instant PTSD (Post Trump Stress Disorder).

Banks stepped up to the mic and confessed “You know, I don’t usually say this about Donald Trump, but that was over the top. I confirmed it just now.”

The quips continued, with Banks remarking “The Trump campaign is so hard up for money, I just bought that fog machine on Ebay for 30 bucks. I don’t feel good about it.”

After pumping up the audience and asking “Who wants to pound some cheesesteaks with me after this,” Banks properly introduced herself, telling the cheering crowd “I’m Elizabeth Banks. Some of you know me from The Hunger Games, in which I play Effie Trinket, a cruel out of touch reality TV star who wears insane wigs while delivering long-winded speeches to a violent dystopia. So when I tuned into Cleveland last week I was like, hey, that’s my act.”

Boom.

Banks spoke about her upbringing, and how she and future husband Max went on a “big romantic date” in 1992, a “rally for Bill Clinton.”

“It was there that I first learned something very important about show business. The headliner should always watch out for someone stealing the show. Hillary Clinton rocked my world.”

The Navy Is Naming A Ship After Gay Icon Harvey Milk

"It will further send a green light... that honesty, acceptance and authenticity are held up among the highest ideals of our military."
From: NewNowNext
The Navy will name a ship after gay rights trailblazer Harvey Milk, 38 years after he was gunned down by San Francisco city supervisor Dan White.

A notification signed by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus indicates he intended to name a planned Military Sealift Command fleet oiler USNS Harvey Milk.

Milk came from a Navy family and was in the service himself, serving a diving officer in San Diego during the Korean War before being honorably discharged as a lieutenant junior grade. (When Milk was wearing his U.S. Navy diver’s belt buckle when he was assassinated.)

The honor “will further send a green light to all the brave men and women who serve our nation that honesty, acceptance and authenticity are held up among the highest ideals of our military,” said Milk’s nephew, Stuart Milk.

Other civil rights trailblazers having ships named after them include former Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren, former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, women’s right activist Lucy Stone and abolitionist Sojourner Truth. Mabus previously named ships after civil rights leaders Medgar Evers and Cesar Chavez.

Milk was honored with a U.S. postage stamp in 2014.

Chelsea Manning Facing New Charges Over Suicide Attempt

"While Chelsea is suffering the darkest depression...the government is taking actions to punish her for that pain."
From: NewNowNext
Earlier this month, imprisoned whistleblower Chelsea Manning attempted to commit suicide in her jail cell. She failed and now faces the possibility of serving the remainder of her decades-long sentence in solitary confinement.

Since she was first taken into custody in 2010, Manning, a trans woman serving time in an all-male prison, has undergone several stints in solitary confinement and been continuously denied medical treatment for her gender dysphoria. The compounded distress led Chelsea to attempt suicide by hanging in her prison cell on July 5.

On the day of the attempt, she was discovered by Army officials and taken to the hospital. While in recovery, she was informed that she was being charged with a series of “administrative offenses” related to her failed effort to end her life.

Officials verbally informed Manning that these charges included resisting the force cell move team, possessing prohibited property and “conduct which threatens.” In addition to the threat of indefinite solitary confinement, if convicted, Chelsea could be transferred from her current medium security facility to a maximum one and have additional time added to her sentence.

“The government has long been aware of Chelsea’s distress associated with the denial of medical care related to her gender transition and yet delayed and denied the treatment recognized as necessary,” said ACLU Staff Attorney Chase Strangio.

“Now, while Chelsea is suffering the darkest depression she has experienced since her arrest, the government is taking actions to punish her for that pain.”

Evan Greer, campaign director for Fight for the Future, a group that advocates for civil liberties and free speech, added that the government’s treatment of Manning is a “travesty,” but that the “whole world is watching” and won’t “stand idly by while this administration continues to harass and abuse Chelsea Manning.”

As of this writing, it’s unclear when Manning will be forced to face these charges. She continues to be denied both basic health care and adequate medical treatment for her suicide attempt.

Canceled Cleveland Pride Days After RNC Leaves LGBTs Confused, Angry

Members of the Cleveland LGBT community are calling for the resignation of Cleveland Pride President Todd J. Saporito.
From: OUT
The board of directors for Cleveland Pride recently announced that the 28th annual Pride parade, rally, and festival have been canceled. It’s the first year the celebration will not take place since it started in 1989.

President and CEO of Cleveland Pride, Todd J Saporito released the following statement:

“We have been entrusted by our community to create a secure parade and festival environment for our LGBTQ brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, friends and allies. Because of the changing social climate, Cleveland Pride did not have enough time to engage in the development of awareness programs and training that we believe is critical in today’s environment. Therefore, we regretfully cancelled our 28th annual parade, rally and festival this year.”
Although Saporito offered his apologies, the local LGBT community is not pleased. Just last week, Mayor Frank G. Jackson of Cleveland passed a nondiscrimination ordinance including LGBT residents.

Ken Schneck, Cleveland local and producer/host of the nationally syndicated radio show, This Show is So Gay, expressed his disappointment with the cancellation. According to Schneck, the celebration had already been rescheduled due to the RNC before it was cancelled.

Schneck commented on the cancellation:

“There is much to celebrate here and much community time needed. For so many individuals in our Cleveland LGBTQ community, Cleveland Pride is either their first opportunity or only day the whole year to be both out and their fully realized selves. For all of us, it is an opportunity to be visible and to be together. Of course we can experience pride every day of the year, but the cancellation of this one day of pure and utter community is a deep, deep loss.”
Schneck is not the only one to express his disappointment with the way Cleveland Pride has been handled. Locals have recently started a petition to remove Saporito from his position. The online petition has already amassed more than 700 signatures within a day.

Saporito has not responded to requests for comment on the cancellation or the petition.

Hillary Clinton Accepts Democratic Nomination: “When There Are No Ceilings, The Sky’s The Limit”

"Out of many, we are one."
From: NewNowNext
Chelsea Clinton took to the stage at the Democratic National Convention to introduce her mother, reminding the crowd of Hillary Clinton’s many accomplishments, including knowing that “LGBT rights are human rights, here at home and around the world.”

After a short film on her life narrated by Morgan Freeman, Hillary Clinton entered to “Fight Song,” and proceeded to make the case why she should be elected our 45th President.

Here are just some of the highlights:

“Tonight, we’ve reached a milestone in our nation’s march toward a more perfect union: the first time that a major party has nominated a woman for president. Standing here as my mother’s daughter, and my daughter’s mother, I’m so happy this day has come. I’m happy for grandmothers and little girls and everyone in between. I’m happy for boys and men, too – because when any barrier falls in America, it clears the way for everyone.”

“After all, when there are no ceilings, the sky’s the limit. So let’s keep going, until every one of the 161 million women and girls across America has the opportunity she deserves to have. But even more important than the history we make tonight, is the history we will write together in the years ahead.”

“We have to decide whether we all will work together so we all can rise together. Our country’s motto is e pluribus unum: out of many, we are one. Will we stay true to that motto? Well, we heard Donald Trump’s answer last week at his convention. He wants to divide us, from the rest of the world, and from each other. “

“Don’t believe anyone who says, ’I alone can fix it’. Yes, those were actually Donald Trump’s words in Cleveland. And they should set off alarm bells for all of us.”

“Bernie Sanders and I will work together to make college tuition-free for the middle class and debt-free for all! We will also liberate millions of people who already have student debt. It’s just not right that Donald Trump can ignore his debts, but students and families can’t refinance theirs.”

“Ask yourself: Does Donald Trump have the temperament to be Commander-in-Chief? Donald Trump can’t even handle the rough-and-tumble of a presidential campaign. He loses his cool at the slightest provocation. When he’s gotten a tough question from a reporter. When he’s challenged in a debate. When he sees a protestor at a rally. Imagine him in the Oval Office facing a real crisis. A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons.”

“So let’s put ourselves in the shoes of young black and Latino men and women who face the effects of systemic racism, and are made to feel like their lives are disposable. Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of police officers, kissing their kids and spouses goodbye every day and heading off to do a dangerous and necessary job.”

“We will defend all our rights: civil rights, human rights and voting rights, women’s rights and workers’ rights, LGBT rights and the rights of people with disabilities!”

And the clincher:

“Though ’We may not live to see the glory,’ as the song from the musical Hamilton goes, ’let us gladly join the fight.’”

She quoted Hamilton. Game. Set. Match.
